Searcy Savings

It was bargain time at the store yesterday. Nothing can make a person feel as good as knowing you saved a little on your groceries:

A gallon of milk was $1.98!A 3# sack of yummy dark chocolate chips $2.00 at Sam's Club. (I stocked up, of course. Chocolate is a necessity in any food storage program.)And Ranch dressing (a staple in the McGrath Household) was only $0.99. I stocked up on these, too.Wow!

Bedtime Story

I got home from my first night of class, which happens to be Literacy and Children's Literature. Claire was all ready for bed and entertaining her mother:

Mystery Animal.....

Yes, this
was this:
Fortunately, Bryan said he just couldn't eat it.

He is such a softie.

Which reminds me of a little story Bryan told when he first got to the mission field. He and his companions were feeding a stray cat. He became their pet. Until the neighbors got hungry. Now they don't bother keeping any pets around.

Posting Comments

Apparently you all can post comments, but I can't.

Anyone who can tell me why/why not, I would welcome the help.

Yes, I have checked all of my settings - I haven't changed anything and I could do comments up until recently.

HEEEELLLLP MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Name that Meal

This contest will run until I hear from Bryan again.

He sent pictures this week of some of his meals lately. Some we know:

For example, this is crab fufu......
As disgusting as it is, this is snail.....And this is........?????Well boiled.

I will be taking suggestions as to what this is until I can hear back from Bryan - probably Monday. Go for it, y'all, impress me!!

MIA

I, like Megan, have been MIA. The most relevant reason is that my internet has been out of commission - therefore, I have not been able to do anything!!!

I will post more later.....so hold on to your anticipation - it is coming.

La Chalupa

We went out for Mexican tonight and Megan said she wanted to order a chalupa - this is what she got.

It wasn't until she saw the monstrosity on the plate she remembered it was really a chimichanga she was craving.

Little Claire Horner

Claire helping with the blueberry picking - look at her finger.

Berry, Berry

One of the highlights of Sequim is the 1600 acre Graymarsh Farm. It is a u-pick farm very close to Megan's home. Aside from lavendar, they have blueberries, strawberries, loganberries, blackberries, boysenberries, raspberries and artichokes.

Right now, blueberries and raspberries are still in season. Blackberries are close and strawberry season just ended.

It is heaven for me - it is beautiful and the berries are delicious! We have been berry picking two days.

Sequim is also home to herds and herds of elk. Some of the elk have collars and when they are within a mile of a major road a light goes off on signs along the road to warm motorists that elk are near and to be careful.

Sweet Sequim

I arrived safe and sound and more than ready for sleep - I was up for more than 24 hours!

I forgot what a beautiful, wonderful, peaceful place Sequim is. The sun shines and there is always a soft cool breeze blowing. The air is fresh and clean. The atmosphere is relaxing - you just don't have to be in a hurry here. It is refreshing. And - it is the Lavendar Capital of the World :-)

Claire is just as cute as anything - she jibber jabbers non-stop and of course I think she is the smartest girl ever.
