The Deep South

My memories/thoughts on the Deep South- we were in Gulfport, MS for a mini-reunion/birthday party for my grandmother (87) and her only remaining sibling, a sister (95) over the weekend.

1. Fire ants are alive and well. They were there to welcome us in great abundance.

2. Extreme humidity gave us a big hug and didn't let go until we got back home. Boy, can my hair get frizzy.

3. 8 hour trips always take 12 hours.

4. It is easy to hug and talk to people you only see once a decade. It really is. Honest.

5. All of those people are growing older except me.

6. Being with family, no matter how often you see them, makes for a very special weekend.
